Propagation
The ideal indoor climate for this species is cool, bright, and humid, with temperatures ranging from 60-70 F. Will adapt to bright indirect light, the plant will look its best with a couple of hours of direct sunlight daily. If the light source is coming from just one direction, rotate the plant a quarter turn weekly to keep it from tilting toward one side. Water the plant when the top inch or so of the soil in the pot feels dry. Use enough water to allow a little excess to escape through the bottom drainage holes. Discard remaining drained water after about 15 minutes.
Successful cuttings require a lot of rooting hormone (good quality stuff) and lots of luck. In fact, most producers today propagate new plants from seed It is best to propagate any type of cuttings or seeds in a mixture of moist peat and perlite. Cover the pot and plant with a plastic bag secured by a rubber band to prevent moisture from escaping. Place in indirect sunlight or under a fluorescent light. Repot in its regular mix after it has been growing for a while.
