Liriope

can be grown in partial shade, although it doubles as a sun-plant. It profits from water, but as long as you plant it in partial shade, it will tolerate drier conditions. Either way, it needs well-drained soil.

Some species remove formaldehyde, xylene and especially ammonia from the surrounding atmosphere.

Division and seeds in the spring. It is best to propagate seeds (when ripe) in a mixture of moist peat and perlite. Cover the pot and plant with a plastic bag secured by a rubber band to prevent the moisture from escaping. Place in indirect sunlight or under a fluorescent light. Repot in its regular mix after it has been growing for a while. Plant divided plant in its regular potting mix.
